    WebP is designed for web delivery and can represent photographic images as well as transparency. This focused compressor creates new WebP files in your browser with the quality you choose. It works best when a source was exported too generously; a well-optimized WebP may show little improvement or become larger after another encode.

    Quality affects lossy WebP output, so check smooth gradients, skin, fine patterns, and sharp edges before downloading. Transparency can remain because WebP supports alpha. Compatibility is strong in current browsers, but a legacy desktop application, marketplace, or content system may still reject the format—confirm the actual destination rather than converting every asset by habit.

    Will WebP always be smaller than JPG?

    No. Relative size depends on both files’ quality, dimensions, encoder, and image content. Compare actual outputs at acceptable visual quality.

    Does WebP compression remove transparency?

    Not on this route. The WebP target supports alpha, though its RGB image data may be encoded lossily at the chosen quality.

    Can I compress animated WebP files?

    The file may decode, but animation is not preserved. Use a dedicated animation tool when multiple frames matter.
